for purchases from Yahoo! Japan Auction, you can use the following sites for deliverary purposes:
Love9Souls wrote:Shopping Mall Japan. There are a few others that work as middle men between Japan auction sites and overseas bidders, but from what I hear (as well as my own opinion), SMJ is one of your best options with decent customer service. Check out their site if that's of interest to you.
Mr Waffle wrote:Bid Service will ship to Australia. SMJ's prices look cheaper, but their shipping fees seem to be related to the USA only- Bid Service's shipping is covered by the flat fee. I've used them a couple of times to get concert tickets.

Common online shops are YesAsia, CDJapan, HMV Japan and Amazon.co.jp. =)

Here are some quick notes about them*...
YesAsia
- You can pay with PayPal
- Free Shipping but expensive price to compensate for free (but slowish) shipping
- Accept checks
- Posters are folded

CDJapan
- You can pay with cash and PayPal
- Japanese street price, expensive shipping (but many options)
- Most of the time, they don't fold bonus posters. Even if they would do so, they would state it out clearly in the item description

Amazon.co.jp
- Amazon.co.jp offers discounts
- Shipping is cheap, if not the cheapest of all
- Confirmation emails are in Japanese

HMV Japan
- Street price, only EMS postage (but FAR cheaper than CDJapan's EMS- usually cheaper than their airmail and SAL, too)

Though it says there "versus" but the link actually explains the good and bad of each online shop.

------------

If you buy your orders from CDJapan, HMV Japan and Amazon Japan, your orders will be count towards Oricon Chart. Thus you can boost your beloved artist's popularity by helping them in chart.

Awssome! Thanks for the post! It's filled me in an quite a few things I wasn't aware of. I've been using CD Japan with a credit card up till now, but now I might consider switching over to Paypal or HMV Japan. As long as my purchase goes towards OR's rank, I'll be there.

Thanks again, BlackMonn!!!

^You're welcome. People at JPM have thought me many things. =D

My best pal is also CDJapan!! I've been using CDJapan for almost two years with credit card as my payment method. xDD And from what I've experienced, CDJapan is the most reliable of all~ I've never had any problem with them, they're pretty consistent about shipping too even though final prices are often deadly. LOL But again, as the saying goes.. the higher you pay, the better you get xDDD

I've used HMV Japan once so far..but unfortunately I can't share anything because my order has yet to be shipped. ^^

---------

Now we can start a talk about online shopping.. Any question, tip, praise, rant - anything! please do share all here. Very Happy

TheKBunni may be your man to teach how to use Shopping Mall Japan. Sometimes concert goods (t-shirts, key chain, phone strap) are being sold by fans at Yahoo!Japan Auction. But only those who're residing in Japan can bid for those goods..that's what SMJ is for. It is to bid for your desired goods on your behalf.

Happy shopping~~

Can you use PayPal with CD Japan? Because the site said that PayPal would only be used for yen payments, and my bank is American dollars. Does this mean I can't use PayPal on CD Japan or am I wrong?

My job pays pretty well, and since it's the summertime, I'm working plenty of hours, so CDJapan's prices haven't deterred me yet. But when I go to university this fall... we'll see.

^I've retyped your question at a similar forum at JPM. Hopefully someone who've experienced this before will answer your question soon. =)

great work BlackMonn!!! Amazon sounds appealing, unfortunately I don't have a credit card (which is perhaps a good thing for me, lol). But CDJapan and Yesasia both work for me, so I am okay with it Smile.

DreadFox wrote:Can you use PayPal with CD Japan? Because the site said that PayPal would only be used for yen payments, and my bank is American dollars. Does this mean I can't use PayPal on CD Japan or am I wrong?
I can answer this question, because I use PayPal for CDJapan and I use the Euro. Yes you can use PayPal on CDJapan even with foreign currency or in your case with US Dollars.
PayPal will automatically convert the Yen into Dollars or other currency for you. It will cost just a a few cents to make that "transaction/conversion". I believe 3 % of the total price per transaction, which is nothing much. IE, if you buy something that cost 10 dollars you'll have to pay 30 cents transaction costs.
The transaction costs will automatically be added to the total amount and all you have to do is accept the payment and you're done Smile.
I have made a few purchases on CDJapan through PayPal this way and I never had any trouble. Hope this helps Smile

^ahh! Thank you zomer..you've covered it up..

*sob* The internet connection broke down and it's been a few days.. FYI, I'm not typing this in front of my own computer. =X

But anyway, eleanorkim from JPM had answered the question when I was away.. I'll just post it here even though her answer's the same to zomer's. ^__^
eleanorkim wrote:Yes you can! I have before, and currently using. The paypal converts yen to dollars for you. When you buy on paypal, they say when they convert the money to yen or so on. No,you can still use it.

You can use paypal on yesasia to. I just figured that out, because I was used to ordering with a credit card.
There ya go~!
